Seattle and the Socialist

The Socialist candidate, Kshama Sawant, has been elected to ‘s City Council.

The capitalist system, she says, is “at the root” of racism in America. She also says:

“Racism is necessary for this oppressive system to exist. It prevents ordinary people from coming together of different races and turning their fire towards Wall Street, corporate politicians and the ruling elite as a whole … the bankers, the billionaires, the capitalists — they are the criminals of our society. They are amounting unimaginable wealth by exploiting the rest of us and maintaining their power by dividing us.”

The U.S. has shown in the past that it has little respect for democracy when it does not serve Capitalism itself; and particularly when democracy represents those whose ideals lie at the Left of the political spectrum.

From each according to…

Children in Need ‘aims to ‘top £26m’ this year from all of us citizens, the majority of which after years of ‘Austerity’ (“we’re all in this together”!) can barely afford to heat our homes properly this winter but who will still dip into our pockets and give what we can afford.

There is a sheer plethora of the rich and famous extolling us to give even more, dusting the endless requests with guilt and glamour.

Gary Barlow alone has a personal fortune of almost £50m. Just saying.

Charideeeeeeeeeeeee

Best not leave the house.. it’s a charideeee day. Where hypocrites, politicians and very rich people persuade the poor through guilt to give much more than their % share. Well, it all helps the governments of the world deflect from their moral and fiscal duties.

Anyone who wants to help anyone will already be doing such every day. Rarely about money, always about effort and right action.

Bukowski poem, ‘The Laughing Heart’

Easy to be flippant and overly optimistic as a reaction against pragmatism. Easy to find myriad people advising you to ‘pull yourself together’ and get on with it. Easy to trudge on day to day kicking against the pricks. Easy to reach, after a long (or short) life, the point where you have more shadows than fresh sunlight every morning, and at the dying of the light. Nothing is easy.

The Laughing Heart by Charles Bukowski

your life is your life
don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is a light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.
you can’t beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.
your life is your life.
know it while you have it.
you are marvelous
the gods wait to delight
in you.

Bedroom Tax

Despicable, cowardly, sickening actions this evening by the so-called Liberal Democrats on something that is fundamentally against what THEY should be disgusted with.

Total hypocrites and they will undoubtedly pay for it at the next General Election and any other elections leading up to that.

Shocking, plainly.
